Physio at Home now providing services to the Central Coast area!

Do I need to see my GP first?
You do not need a GP referral to see a physiotherapist if you are
paying privately or claiming on your private health insurance.
A GP referral is needed for DVA card holders before treatment can commence.
DVA visits will then be bulk billed.
A GP referral is also required for Enhanced Primary Care (EPC)
physiotherapy visits.
On assessment, your physiotherapist may advise a GP visit if this is
indicated. They will explain to you why this might be required.
Will you contact my GP?
We will only contact your GP if you are happy for us to do so
although we do need to provide written reports to them if you were
referred under DVA or EPC programmes.
Sometimes it is useful for us to find out more about your medical
history or request that your GP conduct some tests. We will talk to
you about this before we contact your GP.
It is recognised good practice for physiotherapists to provide
information to your GP as to your progress, usually on discharge
from our care. We can provide you with a copy of these letters should you wish.
Will you speak to my family?
Only if you agree to us doing so. Sometimes family request that we
provide progress reports - we will only do this if you are happy for
us to do so. We will discuss with you what information we will
provide.
What records will be kept of my treatment?
Your treating physiotherapists will keep written documentation of
your assessment and treatment in accordance with their Code of
Professional Conduct. Any information you provide will be kept in
strictest confidence.
Will my health fund cover this?
Physiotherapy services are usually covered to some extent by Extras
cover. Please check with your health fund to determine your refund
amount as this varies between insurers and policies. Our fees can be found
here.
Do you take on DVA clients?
Yes. We do require a GP referral for all DVA clients. The referral
can be on a DVA form or using our own form found
here.
Do you take on EPC clients?
Yes. EPC referrals from GPs are accepted. You will need to pay
our normal fee and we will provide you with an receipt with which to
claim back some of the fee from Medicare. The current Medicare
rebate is $54.60.
What is Enhanced Primary Care (EPC)?
EPC is a government funded scheme which allows GPs to refer patients
for 5 Allied Health visits per year to assist in the management of
the patient's chronic conditions. You need to check with your
GP to see if you are eligible and if you have used these visits with
another professional (eg podiatrist or occupational therapist).
The GP can then refer to Tricia Stolp at Physio at Home and you can
claim some of your fee back from Medicare.
